What to check before buying an IP CCTV kit
Select cameras for each area
Check the format, lens, resolution and lighting options of the included cameras. Review whether their operating conditions suit the installation location. A set with more cameras does not replace suitable framing.
Review recording and storage
Check the recorder’s channels, functions and storage capacity. Verify whether a drive is included and which drives it supports. Recording retention depends on configuration, video traffic and available storage.
Plan connections and power
Review how the cameras connect and receive power, and the equipment or accessories needed at each location. Confirm the planned cable lengths and installation conditions. Do not assume that every cable, mount or network component is included.

Also compare IP Video Recorders (NVR). Check each model’s connections and compatibility before combining equipment.
Questions before buying
Does the kit include a hard drive?
It depends on the product. Check the set’s contents and drives compatible with the recorder before buying.
Can I add more cameras to the kit?
It depends on available channels, network capacity, storage and power. Check these limits and compatible cameras before expanding the system.
