The Hikvision iDS-2CD7A46G0/P-IZHS(8-32mm)(C) IP bullet camera captures and recognises number plates to record vehicle passage at entrances, checkpoints and car parks. Its 1/1.8-inch sensor provides 4 MP images, while the motorised 8 to 32 mm lens allows the capture area to be framed. Wide dynamic range of 140 dB helps preserve detail in backlit scenes. Infrared illumination reaches up to 100 metres; this lighting specification does not establish the number plate reading distance. Recognition runs within the camera and supports vehicle allowlists and blocklists. PoE+ power and IP67 and IK10 protection support outdoor installation. Recording, events and number plate searches must be checked separately with the selected recorder or management software.

Record vehicles at site entrances, monitor passage through defined lanes and track car park access. Number plate lists classify vehicles and generate events for a compatible receiving system.

Installation and configuration

Define the lane, mounting height and capture point before fixing the camera. Adjust the lens, focus, exposure and ANPR region around the number plates. The manufacturer gives side-capture examples from 5 to 22 m depending on height and geometry. Validate results with real vehicles during the day and at night. Check video reception, events and plate searches separately in the recorder or software. The motorised lens adjusts framing; the camera has no mechanical PTZ movement.

FAQ

Does the 100 m IR range also mean a 100 m plate reading distance?

No. This is the illumination range. Plate capture depends on the lens, angle, height, exposure and vehicle speed and must be validated at the passage point.

Can it recognise moving vehicles?

Yes. Under recommended conditions, the manufacturer specifies up to 120 km/h for front capture at checkpoints and up to 80 km/h for side installation.

Does number plate recognition require a recorder?

Recognition runs in the camera. Centralised storage and record searches require configuration and verification of a compatible recorder or software.
